Miscreant fires at scrap dealer’s vehicle in Nalagarh, flees
A miscreant fired upon a moving SUV of a local scrap dealer at Dadi Kaniya village near Khera in the Nalagarh industrial area around 4.30 pm today and fled.
The car owner, Ramkrishen, escaped unhurt as his vehicle was bulletproof. The miscreant appears to have undertaken a recce of the area as he ran towards the passenger side of the car as soon as the vehicle reached there and fired indiscriminately at the SUV, believing that Ramkrishen was sitting on that side.
The incident took place almost one kilometre from the Baddi-Nalagarh highway. The miscreant had covered his face with a cloth and was wearing a fluorescent half jacket, usually worn by workers engaged in road repair work. He managed to flee and was yet to be traced.
Ramkrishen, who hails from nearby Malpur village, was going to Ropar and had taken the arterial road to avoid being caught in a traffic jam on the highway. He is a transporter and coming from Nalagarh.
The Nalagarh police team comprising SHO Rakesh Roy collected empty shells while a team of forensic science experts also examined the crime spot. As per preliminary information, at least five rounds were fired.
Ramkrishen’s brother Pola Ram told The Tribune that he was facing a threat to his life and had been given police protection that was withdrawn some time ago. Additional SP, Baddi, Ashok Verma said that a probe had begun. The CCTV cameras in the area were being examined to gather leads about the miscreant.
