Mercury rises, 3 more places touch record November high
For the third day on the trot, the maximum temperatures have gone past the record November highs in the state. Today, Kangra, Mandi and Dharamsala recorded their highest maximum temperatures for November. Over the last two days, Una, Solan, Keylong and Dharamsala had surpassed their record maximum temperatures for the month of November.
Today, Kangra touched its highest November temperature at 29.3 degree Celsius, going past the previous highest of 28.4 degree Celsius registered in 2020. Meanwhile, Mandi set a new record by touching 27.6 degree Celsius. Dharamsala went past the record high of 27.6 degree Celsius recorded just a day back to register a record 27.8 degree Celsius today.
As per the weather office, the surge in maximum temperatures is happening mainly due to the absence of rain for more than a month now. The state hasn’t received any active Western Disturbance in a while, causing the prolonged dry spell in the state. As per the weather department, the weather is likely to remain dry over the new five-six days, and hence the temperatures are likely to remain more or less the same. A few more places could also go past their previous highest maximum temperatures over the next few days under the current weather conditions.
Over the last 24 hours, the average minimum temperatures were above normal, while the average maximum temperatures continued to be appreciably above normal.
