Mandi bags overall trophy at Master Games Championship
The Mandi district team clinched the overall trophy at the 13th Master Games State-Level Championship, which concluded at the Kehloor Sports Complex in Bilaspur on Sunday. The Hamirpur district team secured the runner-up trophy in this prestigious championship.
Rajesh Dharmani, Minister for Technical Education, presented the awards to the players during the closing ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Dharmani lauded the role of Bilaspur in becoming a hub of sports activities following the establishment of the Kehloor Sports Complex. He credited the Congress government for developing sports infrastructure in the region and praised the participation of over 400 players from across the state in 14 different sporting events.
Dharmani also highlighted the importance of the Master Games Association (MGA) in promoting sports among senior players, saying, “The MGA provides a fantastic opportunity for elderly players to remain engaged in sports and maintain an active lifestyle, regardless of age.” He further commended the MGA for planning to host the National Master Games Championship in Dharamsala next year.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including former MLA Tilak Raj Sharma, HPCC spokesperson Sandeep Sankhyan, Zila Parishad member Gaurav Sharma, MGA president Vinod Kumar, and organising secretary Tejasvi Sharma.
