Man dies in road mishap in Rohru

One person was killed after the car he was travelling in plunged into a deep gorge in Rohru, Shimla district, the police said here today.

The deceased has been identified as Naresh Kumar, son of late Sohan Lal and resident of Nasari village in Rohru.

According to police, one Rakesh Kumar spotted the car lying damaged in a drain.

When he, along with several others, reached the spot, they saw a person lying 10 ft below the damaged vehicles in a critical condition, after which they informed the police and also rushed the injured to the Rohru Civil Hospital. However, the injured was declared dead on arrival. The body was handed over to the deceased’s relatives after conducting post-mortem.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravindra Negi said a case had been registered. The accident likely occurred due to the negligent driving by Naresh Kumar, he added.
