Mahila Congress demands arrest of BJP MLA Hansraj, to march to Vidhan Sabha
Shimla, August 26
A day ahead of the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba and the state mahila Congress have demanded the arrest of BJP MLA Hansraj. “We will take out a march to Vidhan Sabha tomorrow to demand the arrest of Hansraj. His place is not in Vidhan Sabha but in jail,” said Lamba while addressing a press conference here today.

The police had registered an FIR a few days back against the MLA following a compliant by a 20-year-old girl in which she had claimed that the MLA had been sending her obscene messages. The girl, however, later claimed in social media that she had filed the complaint against the MLA under pressure.
Lamba claimed that the girl was withdrawing the complaint under pressure, and the Mahila Congress would do whatever was required to help the girl get justice. “We will question the police as well. We will ask the police what was done after the FIR was registered. Was Hansraj called for questioning, was his phone confiscated for forensic analysis? We will demand his arrest, and seek punishment if he is found guilty,” she said.
“And if the police do not take action in the matter, we will gherao the police headquarter until investigation starts into the matter,” she said.
Lamba further said that the BJP had given the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Bachaho’ slogan but in reality the BJP was “saving criminals” not the daughters. “The Prime Minister says crime against women is a big sin, but who’s committing this sin? Who are Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, Prajwal Revanna?” she asked.
Lamba further said that Mahila Congress would kick off Nari Nyay Andolan from tomorrow, in which the demands for the implementation of 33 per cent reservation for women, women security and package for rising inflation and unemployment would be raised.
