Shimla, August 27

The state Mahila Congress, led by All India Mahila Congress Alka Lamba, today took out a march to Vidhan Sabha, demanding the arrest of BJP MLA Hansraj in connection with an FIR filed against him over allegedly sending obscene messages to a young girl. Dressed in red attire, the Mahila Congress workers sat outside the gate of the Vidhan Sabha, raising slogans to seek the arrest of the MLA.

Incidentally, the girl who had lodged the complaint, later refused to pursue the matter saying that she had filed the complaint under some pressure. Today, she again posted a video on social media saying that nothing wrong had happened with her and no protest or politics should be done in her name.

Meanwhile, Lamba said the girl was under a lot of pressure from the BJP leaders to withdraw her complaint. Even as she complimented the police for registering the FIR against the Churah MLA, Lamba said the police did not take any further action.

“After registering the FIR, the police should have called the accused for questioning and his phone should have been confiscated for forensic scrutiny. It has not been done and we want to know why the police hasn’t done so,” said Lamba.

Lamba said that Mahila Congress would meet the DGP to find out what action was being taken by the police.
