Lahaul’s Pauri fair from Aug 16

The picturesque town of Triloknath in tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti is gearing up to host the much-awaited Pauri fair from August 16 to 18. In preparation for this grand cultural event, a significant meeting of the state-level Pauri Fair Committee was convened today in Udaipur under the stewardship of SDM Keshav Ram.

The meeting saw the participation of officials from different departments, community leaders, including pradhans and up-pradhans from panchayats, and the revered Kardar of Triloknath Temple.

Highlighting the festivities planned for the three-day fair, the SDM said the fair will commence with a vibrant shobha yatra. Attendees can look forward to various cultural performances by local artistes.

The event promises something for everyone, featuring a dog show, competitions such as ‘Himalayan Queen’ and ‘Himalayan Princess’ and sports tournaments, including volleyball, kabaddi, table tennis and badminton. A marathon race will also be held during the fair.

The fair committee affirmed its commitment to making this year’s event a memorable one, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Lahaul and Spiti amidst the serene backdrop of Triloknath.

As anticipation builds across the region, locals and visitors are expecting an immersive experience, celebrating tradition and communal harmony.

The fair is celebrated in the third week of August every year. Earlier, it was the most prominent fair of Lahaul.
