Kidnapped Pathankot boy rescued from Nurpur
Nurpur, August 31
The Nurpur district police, with the help of local youths, rescued a seven-year-old boy who was kidnapped from the Bodh-Chakki link road in Pathankot yesterday. The police teams, led by Nurpur SP Ashok Ratan, launched a hunt to nab the criminals and rescue the child after receiving information from the Pathankot police.
After inspecting CCTV camera footage at Kandwal and Jassur, the police intensified the vigil on the Nagabari-Hadal-Ondh link road and after three hours, the child was found under the Chakki bridge. On being chased by the rescue party, the accused fled. The police handed over the rescued child to the Pathankot police.
The child was kidnapped from Shah Colony in Pathankot last noon when he was returning home from school. As per information, one of the two accused is from Ganhi-Lagor village in Nurpur, who was booked by the Chamba police in a criminal case a few months ago.
The SP said that with the assistance of the local youths, the police recovered the child. He added that the police had identified both kidnappers and a massive hunt had been launched to nab them.
Janu, a resident of Suliali, told The Tribune that the kidnappers had abandoned their car on the Onth-Dev-Bharadi link road. “We smashed the windows and found a school bag, an old numberplate and an anaesthetic spray bottle in it. We immediately informed the police and a rescue operation was started,” he added.
