No travelling to long distances now
- Previously, pregnant women had to travel several kilometres to Rampur or Kullu for ultrasound examinations. But, with the machine available locally, patients will no longer need to undertake long journeys, improving accessibility to essential medical services
The installation of the machine addresses a long-standing demand of the area, offering considerable benefits to local population.
During the inauguration, Rahul Jain emphasised the impact the ultrasound machine will have, particularly for expectant mothers. Previously, pregnant women had to travel several kilometres to Rampur or Kullu for ultrasound examinations, which was both time-consuming and challenging. The machine is being managed by Dr Rohit Boyle, Assistant Professor of Radiology at IGMC-Shimla, who is part of the multi-specialty surgical camp. He is supported by Dr Abhishek and local medical officer Dr Jampa in the functioning of the new equipment.
The inauguration event was attended by Kaza SDM Harsh Negi, Dr Bishan Das, Block Medical Officer Dr Tenzing and other hospital staff, who were present to show their support for the advancement in the medical facilities in the region.
“The introduction of the ultrasound machine marks a crucial step in improving healthcare services in the Spiti region, ensuring that residents receive timely and efficient medical care without the need for extensive travel,” said Lahaul and Spiti MLA Anuradha Rana.
