Kavi sammelan marks Pahari Day festivities
More than 30 litterateurs participated in the state-level Pahari Kavi Sammelan organised yesterday as part of the celebrations of Pahari Day, being observed across the state.
Padma Shri Vidyanand Saraik was the chief guest at the programme conducted by litterateur Trilok Suryavanshi. November 1, is celebrated as Pahari Day across the state and programmes are being organised by the Language and Culture Department to promote the language across the state.
On this occasion, the book 'Kangri-Pahadi-Ch Prakashak Sahitya: Reet-Paramparan Kanai Tyahs' published by famous litterateur Ramesh Mastana was released by Dr Pankaj Lalit, Director, Department of Language, Art and Culture.
Eminent poets presented their poems in Pahari language about Himachali culture at the function. Bhoop Singh Ranjan from Shimla presented his poems on 'Boliyan Mithri Pahadario', Uma Thakur on 'Hamari Sanskriti Hamare Sanskaar', Rupeswari from Mandi on 'Barhamasa' and Haripriya on 'Prema Re Biu.'
Dr Lalit urged scholars from across the state to take the responsibility of promoting Pahari language. He emphasised making the language rich by writing in it as much as possible. He said a Lekhak Goshthi would be organised tomorrow in which scholars from across the state would participate in enriching discussions.
Joint Director of the department, Manjeet Sharma, thanked the chief guest and the poets for attending the event.
