Judicial probe sought into student’s death

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded a judicial inquiry into the death of a student who fell from a hostel in Himachal Pradesh University. The ABVP today met Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh and submitted a memorandum to him in this regard. A first-semester student of the Department of Laws fell to death from the university hostel last Friday. ABVP campus president Honey Sharma alleged the university’s failure in installing CCTV cameras in hostels had contributed to this tragedy.

The SFI submitted a memorandum to Vikramaditya Singh and demanded immediate recruitment of non-teaching staff, besides seeking an investigation into the alleged irregularities in appointment of professors.
