Sukhu launched the Dei 2.0 programme for the empowerment of the daughters of Mandi district. He felicitated seven girls and provided an incentive of Rs 10,000 each to them under the programme.

The Chief Minister, while addressing a public meeting at Jogindernagar, said that the state government would provide the required funds for the construction of 32 roads in Jogindernagar. Sukhu said that a new building of Makredi school would be constructed and new trades would be introduced in the ITI-Jogindernagar.

The Chief Minister said that due to the policies of his government, Himachal was steadily moving towards becoming a self-reliant state. He added that the matter of the Bhubhu Jot Tunnel had been taken up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and “if Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur does not create hindrances in Delhi to stop the project, Himachal is sure to get clearance for it”.

About the Shanan Hydroelectric Project, the Chief Minister said that the state government was fighting a legal battle in the Supreme Court to get back the project, which was leased to Punjab for 99 years. He reiterated that if the SJVN did not agree to the conditions of the state government, the 210 MW Luhri Hydroelectric Project Phase-I, 66 MW Dhaulasidh Hydroelectric Project and 382 MW Sunni Hydroelectric Project would be acquired.

The Chief Minister accused the previous BJP government led by Jai Ram Thakur of indulging in huge financial irregularities from 2017 to 2022. He alleged that the previous BJP government had exploited the resources of the state and given freebies worth Rs 5,000 crore in the form of free of cost electricity and water before the Assembly elections. Big hotels were also given the benefit of subsidy, he alleged.

He said that the Congress government had rationalised the subsidy but no such burden was put on common people. He added that the BJP tried to topple his elected government through the ‘Operation Lotus’ but the people of Himachal once again reposed faith in the Congress by giving a huge mandate to it in the byelections.

Sukhu said that Thakur accused the Congress government of neglecting Mandi district but he himself did nothing as Chief Minister.
