In this event, state president of Himachal Gyan Vigyan Samiti Satyawan Pundir was the chief guest, former principal and educationist Dr Bipin Rathore and Chamba police station in-charge Sanjeev Chaudhary were present as the keynote speakers.

Pundir said International Youth Day was initiated by the United Nations in 2000, with the objective of giving representation to the youths’ contribution in employment, education, social justice and to positively channel their energy. Each year, the day is celebrated with a new theme and objective, highlighting the crucial role of their presence and positive thinking in the development of society and the nation. The younger generation symbolises new and necessary ideologies, innovation and technological progress through which society can advance, he added.

The Chamba police station in-charge educated the youth on the dangers of drug addiction, drug trafficking, criminal activities associated with substance abuse and the significant impacts of cybercrime. He mentioned that protecting the youth from drug addiction and trade, was a crucial responsibility of all members of society.

Dr Bipin Rathore provided essential insights on science and its marvels, scientific awareness and outlook. His impactful, inspirational, experienced and engaging address highly motivated the youth.

He explained the lack of scientific perspective and the use of unscientific methods and superstitions that still prevail today, even in modern times, using everyday examples, which greatly benefited the students. He also addressed students’ questions and resolved their doubts.
