International conference on culture & language at Seraj college
A two-day international research conference titled ‘Integration of Culture, Language and Knowledge’ was recently held at Government College, Seraj, at Lambathach under the Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district.
The event attracted over 100 participants — including professors, researchers and students.
Retired Professor Vyayam Singh from Jawaharlal Nehru University was the chief guest at the event, and delivered a speech that celebrated the uniqueness of the Seraji culture. Sardar Patel University Pro-Vice-Chancellor Anupama Singh was the special guest at the event.
The keynote address was delivered by sociologist Vivek Kumar, who praised the conference’s focus and highlighted its significance for researchers in the Himalayan region. Dr Sonali Gupta, the programme’s co-ordinator and Himalayan Conservation and Preservation Society president, participated remotely from the US, and expressed her eagerness to organise similar events in the future.
Guest speakers included Dr Vidhan Das from Ambedkar University, Delhi; Dr Saumya Malviya from IIT-Mandi; Calvin Wilson from the Netherlands; and Dr Shalini Thakur from Chile.
Principal Vikram Singh Thakur welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to the staff and students for their efforts. The conference, organised by Dalip Singh and Yamini Sharma, showcased the vibrant academic community at the college and underscored the importance of cultural integration in research.
