Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today said that the Congress had no right to remain in power and the BJP would not rest till the government was toppled. The government had no reason or big achievement to celebrate and rather it should be in remorse for having failed on all fronts, he added.

Thakur, while addressing an ‘Aakrosh’ rally here, said that the BJP had decided to hold protests across the state to expose the working of the state government. He alleged that loot and corruption in the name of disaster was rampant.

He alleged, “There are many disaster victims who have not received full compensation. Cash was disbursed and many irregularities had come to light, which needs to be investigated.” He added that most of the damaged infrastructure had not been fully restored even 17 months after the rain disaster last year. The government should provide an account of the expenditure on disaster relief. The close aides of leaders had been given Cabinet ranks and made Advisers and Officers on Special Duty (OSDs).

Thakur alleged that the Congress had come to power by making false promises and it was continuing with misgovernance by concealing facts. He said, “The Rs 1,500 per month scheme for women has not been implemented even after two years. Instead of providing the promised free 300 units of electricity, the government has imposed riders even on 125 free units provided by the previous BJP government.”

Thakur said that the government was not able to pay salaries and pension to its employees on time and had raised loans to the tune of around Rs 1 lakh crore. He added that the government should state the reasons for the planned celebrations on the completion of two years in office.
