Indora men booked for embezzling govt funds

The North Zone of state Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Dharamsala, has booked three government scheme beneficiaries, hailing from Indora in Kangra district, for their alleged involvement in the misappropriation of subsidy amount availed by them from the state Fisheries Department.

The bureau has registered a forgery case against Narayan Singh and his sons Rakesh and Ashok Kumar, residents of Indora, for the alleged embezzlement of government funds for grabbing subsidy amount to the tune of Rs 2,81,750 through the state Fisheries Department.

Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau SP Balbir Singh said after receiving a complaint from Praveen Singh, a resident of Baleer village in Indora sub-division, the bureau had conducted a thorough investigation into the alleged misappropriation of subsidy amount, and a forgery case had been registered against the trio. He said the accused, who were beneficiaries of the Fisheries Department’s scheme, had taken a subsidy amount for the construction of fishery tanks and renovation purpose, but they had not spent the amount as per the proposed plan submitted to the department.

He said the role of some officials of the department was also under scanner and that the bureau would investigate their involvement if any in embezzlement of the subsidy amount. Further investigation in the case was underway, he added.
