Importance of legal aid deliberated upon at Jainagar degree college
In a bid to commemorate National Legal Services Day, the Social Sciences Club of Government Degree College, Jainagar, organised a declamation competition.
The declamations centred on legal rights and access to justice. The theme of the event was ‘The Role of Legal Aid in Bridging Social Inequality and the Future of Legal Services in India’. Students of various classes participated in the competition, which aimed at fostering critical thinking on legal issues.
Principal Anjana Sood lauded the efforts of the students and announced the results of the competition. The first position was bagged by Diksha, a second-year student, followed by Neeraj, also a second-year student, and Jotika, a third-year student, came in third.
Social Sciences Club convenor Prof Pragati Kashyap presented the vote of thanks and pondered the role of legal aid and access to justice in the lives of every citizen.
National Legal Services Day highlights the need to support and provide legal protection to all, particularly the poor and disadvantaged segments of society. In order to guarantee that everyone has access to justice, the day also aims to raise public awareness about law and facilitate the mediation of disputes.
