IIM-Sirmaur launches programme for smart manufacturing

The Sirmaur Indian Institute of Management (IIM) has unveiled a postgraduate programme for executives (PGPEX) with a focus on ‘Leadership in Smart Manufacturing’ (LSM). The programme is set to commence in January 2025. It was developed in partnership with RWTH Aachen University, Germany, and has been tailored to empower senior professionals with the critical skills required to lead in the rapidly evolving landscape of Industry 4.0.

The PGPEX-LSM is a response to the increasing need for leaders who can navigate and drive the transformation of manufacturing industries through smart technologies. As businesses worldwide pivot towards automation, digital transformation and sustainability, the demand for knowledgeable leaders who understand the intricacies of smart manufacturing is at an all-time high.

The programme combines academic training with practical insights, blending the expertise of world-renowned faculty with real-world applications from industry veterans. Participants would delve into key areas of smart manufacturing, including automation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT) and sustainable manufacturing practices. The curriculum of the programme has been designed to provide a holistic view to ensure senior engineers and executives can apply these learnings to modern manufacturing challenges.

IIM-Sirmaur Director Prafulla Agnihotri said, “We are proud to launch the PGPEX-LSM in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University. This programme underscores our commitment to providing worldclass education and fostering global partnerships.”

We look forward to welcoming the first cohort of executives and supporting their journey towards becoming leaders in this transformative field.” Participants would have the opportunity to attend a semester at RWTH Aachen University, where they would be exposed to advanced manufacturing facilities.
