The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Saloh, in Una district will hold its sixth convocation ceremony on Saturday. Dr Mylswamy Annadurai, a Padma Shri awardee, will be the chief guest.

Annadurai is the vice-president of the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology and chairman of board of governors of the National Design and Research Forum.

Often dubbed as the ‘Moon Man of India’, he has served in the Indian Space Research Organisation as the Director of the ISRO Satellite Centre.

While interacting with mediapersons, IIIT Director Prof Manish Gaur said 260 students would get their bachelor’s degrees. Besides, 18 students from the 2019 and 2020 batches would be given medals for their exceptional achievements, he said.

Highlighting the notable achievements of the institute over the years, the director said two new courses in cybersecurity and data science had been introduced in its CSE branch, reflecting the evolving demands of the industry. He said the number of seats available for students had been increased from 207 during the 2023-24 session to 294 for the 2024-25 session.

Prof Gaur said despite having faced challenges during the pandemic, the institute had achieved remarkable placement results, with the highest package being offered at Rs 32 lakh. He said IIIT-Una boasted of an impressive, environment-friendly, sustainable and zero-waste campus with state-of-the-art academic and research facilities.

The director said during its seven-year journey, the institute had filed five patents and secured a research project worth approximately Rs 1 crore. He said the institute had also successfully organised eight national-level conferences and workshops, producing 44 research publications across journals, conferences and book chapters during 2023-24.
