IIAS invites entries for institute anthem

The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, has invited people, former fellows and fellows to write a composition for ‘Kulgeet’, the institute anthem.

Those wishing to apply have been appealed to submit their entries by November 30. As per the circular issued by the institute, entries should be sent via email to secretary@iias.ac.in with the subject line ‘Entry for IIAS Kulgeet Submission’.

Alternatively, physical submissions can be mailed to Mehar Chand Negi, Secretary, IIAS. The submissions will be reviewed by a panel comprising members of the IIAS administration, distinguished alumni and experts from the field of literature and music.

The winning entry will be officially adopted as the ‘Hindi Kulgeet’ of IIAS and could be performed at significant institute events. The author of the selected entry will be awarded an honorarium of Rs 15,000 as a token of appreciation. As per the guidelines issued by the institute, the anthem should be written in Hindi and should not exceed two A4-size verses.

The submissions should reflect the themes of academic excellence, cultural heritage, unity and the institute pursuit of knowledge.

Entries must be submitted in a typed format (PDF preferred with Unicode or Mangal font) to ensure legibility.

Each entry must be original, unpublished and not previously used by any other institution or organisation.

The Secretary said, “We are excited to announce the commencement of a unique opportunity to contribute to IIAS’ legacy through your creative expression. The institute is looking to adopt a new ‘Hindi Kulgeet’, which will serve as our anthem, encapsulating the spirit, values and ethos of IIAS.”
