HP Secretariat women finish second in kabaddi tourney

Kabaddi is an old sport of Himachal and other states, said Chief Secretary Dr Shrikant Baldi, who is also chairman of Himachal Pradesh Secretariat Services Sports Control Board (HPSSSCB), while presided over the closing ceremony of the 43rd All-India Civil Services (AICS) Kabaddi Tournament 2019-20 organised by Himachal Pradesh Secretariat Sports Control Board at Government Degree College, Kotshera, today.
As many as 600 players of 40 teams from various civil secretariats, central secretariat and union territories participated in this competition. Players of Indian Pro Kabaddi League also took part in the competition.
The Chief Secretary said the HPSSSCB got the opportunity to host event after 40 years, which is a matter of pride. He said that the Himachal Pradesh Women Kabaddi team was led by international kabaddi player Pooja Thakur.
In men’s category Central Secretariat, Delhi, bagged the first position, the RSB Chennai were the runner-up and Himachal Pradesh Secretariat bagged the third position. Similarly, in women category, the RSB Jaipur were the winners, Himachal Pradesh Secretariat got the second position and Maharashtra Civil Secretariat attained the third position.
Secretary Youth Services and Sports Purnima Chauhan, president, Himachal Pradesh Secretariat Services Employees Union Sanjeev Sharma, vice president, state badminton association Balwant and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
