Honorarium of HRTC daily wagers to be hiked: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today announced Rs 25 lakh for various development works at Shri Abhedanand Maharaj Kutiya, a religious place at Beetan village in the Haroli Assembly segment of Una dsitrict. He said that an overhead water storage tank of 25,000 litre capacity would also be constructed on the premises of the kutiya.

Agnihotri hailed social service being rendered by Shri Abhedanand Maharaj Kutiya to the people of the region. He announced that a 63 KVA electrical substation would be set up at Beetan village to cater to the increasing demand of power in the area.

The Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the charge of the Transport Department, said that the honorarium of daily wage workers in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) would be raised from existing Rs 257 to Rs 400 per day and the formalities for the appointment of 357 conductors had been completed and all of them would join duty soon.

Agnihotri said that the HRTC would purchase 297 electric buses and tenders for the purpose would be floated soon. He added that 24 old Volvo buses would be replaced with new ones and the concession in fare for women in the HRTC buses would continue.

He said that the HRTC would purchase 100 tempo travellers, which would be introduced on specific routes, and 250 diesel buses. He later inspected ongoing development works in Beetan village. He also visited the Beetan sports stadium. The government had sanctioned Rs 58 lakh for the construction of boundary walls of the stadium and the construction of public conveniences.

Agnihotri also inspected the ongoing beautification work on the community pond in Pubowal village and directed the authorities concerned to construct rain shelters at the bus stop in Gondpur Jaichand village.
