On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Kinnaur District Language Officer’s office, under the Department of Language and Culture, organised a special programme at Government College, Reckong Peo. The event featured a speech and essay-writing competition involving 30 students from DIET, ITI, and Government College, Reckong Peo.

Speaking on the occassion, the principal of the host institution, Uttam Chand, said that Hindi Day is celebrated annually on September 14 at the national, state and district levels. He said the primary objective of the event was to connect the younger generation to the Hindi language. He urged students to value Hindi as much as English in today’s competitive global environment and incorporate it into their daily conversations.

Chand expressed happiness that various Hindi-related programmes were successfully organised by the Department of Language, Art, and Culture in the Kinnaur district, wherein many students actively participated. He proudly noted that over 80 per cent of the official work in several government departments is conducted in Hindi, benefiting the local population. He encouraged everyone to proudly use Hindi in their work and daily lives, and to motivate the younger generation to learn and speak Hindi.
