The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) recently organised an event to mark Hindi Diwas, with an aim to promote Hindi and discuss its significance.

The event was chaired by IIAS Secretary Mehar Chand Negi. The programme kicked-off with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana, presented by Dr Nivedita.

Following this, several scholars shared their insights on the role and development of Hindi. Dr Manish Mishra spoke on “Hindi as a Promoter of Composite Culture”, while Dr Renu Dwivedi discussed “Amendments Related to the Official Language”. Prof Jitendra Rai explored “Official Language: National Language Hindi”, and Prof Omprakash Sharma provided his perspective on “The Importance of the Official Language Hindi”.

The event also featured a poem and song on Hindi by Dr Tek Chand. The ceremony concluded with the presidential address by Negi and a vote of thanks by Dr Meenu Agarwal. The singing of the National Anthem marked the end of the event. The ceremony was attended by all the institute’s scholars, officials, associate scholars and staff, who contributed to the success of the event.
