The Himachal Pradesh High Court has issued a notice to the Secretary and Director, Tourism, and Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner on a petition alleging that two private operators are conducting water sports activities at Gobind Sagar Lake in contravention of rules.

Issuing the notice, Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua directed the respondents to file their replies within two weeks and listed the matter for hearing on October 28.

The court passed the order on a petition filed by MG Sky Adventures that alleged that even as the tender was issued in its favour for conducting sports activities at the lake, two private operators were conducting water sports activities in violation of the rules.

It has been contended that the petitioner is registered with the government for conducting water sports, whereas Himalayan Adventure and Gandharvi Builder are neither registered with the state government for conducting water sports nor they have deployed experienced trainers.

The petitioner has urged the court to restrain the “unauthorised” persons from carrying out water sports activities at Gobind Sagar Lake.
