Himachal High Court notice to Kangana Ranaut on poll petition
Shimla, July 24
The HP High Court today issued notice to BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on a petition challenging her election from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat. Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua passed this order on an election petition filed by Laik Ram Negi of Kinnaur. The petitioner has challenged the Lok Sabha poll on the ground that his nomination papers were wrongly rejected.
According to the petitioner, he had filed his nomination papers from Mandi for the Lok Sabha poll on May 14. He submitted the necessary no due certificate issued by the Forest Department before the Election Officer along with the nomination papers. However, he was told that no due certificates for electricity, water and telephone issued by the departments concerned for government accommodation will also have to be given independently. According to the petitioner, on May 15 he submitted the no due certificates but he refused to accept these documents.
