Heavy rainfall alert issued for tomorrow
Shimla, August 31
The Meteorological (MeT) Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, for nine districts except Kullu, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts, on September 2 and 3.
Rainfall across the state is very likely to continue till September 6.
As per the forecast, the heavy spell of rain could lead to landslides, flooding of roads, waterlogging in low-lying areas, sudden increase in the water level of rivulets, damage to life and property due to lightning and damage to horticultural and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.
People have been advised to avoid going to areas that are often get waterlogged, follow traffic advisory and remain cautious.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall occurred at a few places in the state in the past 24 hours.Shimla recorded the maximum temperature of 27.4°C, Dharamsala (30.5°C), Manali (26.8°C), Dalhousie (25.3°C), Una (35.4°C), Bhuntar (34.2°C), Kangra (33.5°C), Sundernagar (33.7°C), Chamba (33.3°C), Mandi (32.9°C), Solan (31.5°C), Nahan (30°C), Kasauli (27.7°C), Kalpa (27.2°C) and Keylong (26.6°C).
Bilaspur was the hottest place at 35.5°C while Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest at 10.3°C.
