Shimla, August 27

The state has recorded widespread precipitation since Monday evening. Light to moderate rain has been witnessed in many areas while heavy rain has been recorded at a few places. As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the precipitation spell is likely to continue in the state till August 29.

With rain already lashing several places, including Shimla, the department has issued alert for heavy rain at isolated places over the next two days.

The department has also issued an orange alert for heavy rain for Tuesday night. Shimla, in particular, has been receiving heavy rain since Monday evening.

Following the latest spell of precipitation, 126 roads have been blocked across the state. As many as 1,191 distribution transformers have been disrupted while 27 water supply schemes are non-functional at present.
