Pushpender, who hails from Kurukshetra, emerged as the top wrestler at the old and famous dangal at Fagu, about 25 km from Shimla. Pushpender won the cash award of Rs 1.5 lakh by beating Ashish, a Chandigarh wrestler in the final of the keenly contested annual dangal. “Over 200 wrestlers, including a

few from abroad, participated in the dangal. They entertained the massive crowd that turned up for

the fair with their scintillating moves,” said Sohan Thakur, a member of the organizing committee.

Around 12,000-15,000 people from the area and nearby places had turned up to see the wrestlers get the better of each other. “This time we created a separate category for the wrestlers from the state. The wrestlers contesting in this pool contested for Himachal Kesari. The winner was given Rs 51,000 as cash prize,” said Thakur.
