Haryana tourist slips into gorge in Malana, dies
Sahil, a tourist and a resident of Rohtak, Haryana, tragically lost his life after slipping into a deep gorge in the Magic Valley of Malana, Kullu district yesterday.
According to SDM Kullu, Vikas Shukla, the body was recovered today with the help of Nepali labourers and local rescuers after prolonged efforts. The body was sent for autopsy and later handed over to the deceased’s family for the final rites. Sahil, who had come to Kullu with his stepbrother, lost his balance while returning from the Malana area, resulting in the fatal fall.
In a separate incident, a Sri Lankan tourist fell into a deep gorge near Jogni Falls today, a popular tourist spot near Manali.
According to DSP Manali KD Sharma, the incident occurred when the 24-year-old, identified as Washit Ranasinghe, was travelling with seven friends from Sri Lanka. Fortunately, the local rescue team responded swiftly and managed to save the tourist after a tough operation.
"The injured tourist was initially treated at a Manali hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable. He was later referred to regional hospital, Kullu, for further treatment," the DSP said.
The police have registered cases in both incidents, and investigations are ongoing.
