Hamirpur, Baddi & Una municipal councils to be upgraded as corporations
The state government today decided to upgrade the Hamirpur, Una and Baddi municipal councils to municipal corporations and two nagar panchayats of Nadaun and Jawali to municipal councils.
The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu here. As a result, the total number of corporations in the state will rise to eight; Shimla, Dharamsala, Mandi, Sloan and Palampur already have municipal corporations.
The Cabinet also decided to create six new nagar panchayats in Sandhol, Barsar, Dharampur, Bangana, Kunihar and Bhoranj. Besides, it approved the inclusion of additional areas under the jurisdiction of various urban local bodies.
The Cabinet decided to bring all persons above the age of 70 years under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, besides providing additional top-up cover of Rs 5 lakh per annum to those already registered with it.
The Cabinet gave approval for enhancing the honorarium of multi-task workers in the Public Works Department from Rs 4,500 to Rs 5,000 per month. It also gave nod to providing a financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh for the construction of houses for widows, single women, destitute and ‘divyang’ women with annual income less than Rs 2.50 lakh and registered under the HP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The Cabinet decided to extend the benefits of the Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashray Yojana to abandoned and surrendered children up to the age of 27 years. Approval was also given to implement the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Start Up Yojana, 2023, assuring a minimum rent of Rs 50,000 to the owners of electric-taxis attached with various government departments.
It also decided to create and fill 30 posts of Senior Resident Doctor and 326 posts of ancillary staff in Dr Radhakrishnan Government Medical College, Hamirpur. The Cabinet gave its consent to filling 28 posts of different categories in the Department of Fisheries, 25 posts of Assistant State Taxes and Excise Officer in the Excise and Taxation Department and 10 posts of various categories in the HP Rajya Chayan Aayog, Hamirpur.
The Cabinet approved the introduction of M. Tech in Electrical Engineering (Electric Vehicle Technology) in Government Hydro Engineering College at Bandla in Bilaspur district. It gave nod to the issuance of a letter of intent in favour of M/s Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC) to set up a winery at Parala in Shimla district.
To decongest Shimla city, it approved the shifting of the office of the HP Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board from Shimla to Hamirpur.
