Haat Fair opens, to promote sale of Self-Help Group products
In order to display and promote sale of products prepared by self-help groups (SHGs), two-day Nurpur Haat Fair opened at Eco Park here on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner, Kangra, Hemraj Bairwa inaugurated the fair. Apart from this fair, the DC also inaugurated a multipurpose outlet of the Forest Department’s Ecosystem Management and Livelihood Improvement Project.
Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, the DC said that 58 self-help groups were functioning under 29 Village Forest Development Committees (VFDC) constituted through JICA project in Nurpur forest division. He said this sales outlet would play an important role in providing a better marketing platform for displaying and selling products of the self-help groups.
The DC said the directions had been given to the officials of the concerned departments to explore the possibilities of opening such outlets at the junctions of the National Highways also. He said that sales centres and fairs would enable display and sale of the products of self-help groups at the local level. Efforts should also be made for online marketing.
