Gram Sabha meetings to be held tomorrow: Sirmaur DC

Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta said Gram Sabha meetings will be held in all 259 gram panchayats of the district on July 7. During these meetings, individuals can submit any claims or objections related to the Forest Rights Act.

Khimta added that the district administration had conducted awareness sessions on the Forest Rights Act and related rules for panchayat representatives, along with the chairpersons and secretaries of the Forest Rights Committees. The sessions were held on June 29 and July 1 in Nahan and Paonta Sahib, respectively.

The efforts are part of the administration’s ongoing initiative to ensure that community members are well-informed about their rights and procedures for submitting claims under the Forest Rights Act.
