Govt stable, BJP desperate to grab power: Agnihotri
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that there was no threat to the Congress government and it was stable and would complete its full term.
Agnihotri, in an informal media interaction here, alleged that the BJP had been desperately trying to destabilise the state government ever since the Congress came to power in 2022. “As far as the High Court of Himachal’s order on the appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPSs) is concerned, we will fight it out legally after consulting legal experts. But even politically, we will do whatever is required to be done to counter the BJP in trying to destabilise our government,” he added.
He said that the BJP was in a hurry to grab power as it had not been able to reconcile with the public mandate of the 2022 Assembly elections against it. “There is no doubt that the BJP is desperate to grab power and has chalked out a strategy to destabilise the Congress government,” he added.
Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh said, “We will fight this battle of perception both legally and politically. Even in the worst case scenario, if the six MLAs, who were Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, are disqualified from the Assembly, the Congress will need to win only one seat to remain in power while the BJP will need many more seats.”
Naresh Chauhan, Media Adviser to Chief Minister, also lashed out at the BJP for trying to execute the ‘Operation Lotus’ to bring down the Congress government. “The BJP has no moral right to speak on the issue of the appointment of CPSs, as during its rule also its government had these posts. We will work out a strategy and fight the issue legally in the Supreme Court,” he said.
