Govt threatening mediapersons: BJP

}In a democracy, the media is free to highlight the weaknesses of the government in power. However, the Congress government is threatening mediapersons against reporting facts, which is wrong. Rajeev Bindal, BJP State President

Bindal alleged that the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government in the state had closed 1,500 institutions, including 400 schools, during its 18-month rule. It was in the process of closing another 800 schools on the pretext of the rationalisation of government educational institutions. He added that while the Congress government had failed to deliver on its promise of 300 units of free power to the consumers, it had discontinued 125 units free electricity being given during the tenure of the previous BJP government.

He added that the Congress government had discontinued welfare schemes like Sahara and Himcare and the free school uniform scheme for the students of government schools initiated by the previous BJP government.

He said that the Chief Minister talked about making Himachal a self-reliant state by 2032 but was taking decisions denying public welfare. He asked Sukhu what had prompted the Congress to make tall promises that it could not have fulfilled due to the financial crisis.
