Geologists to chalk out plan to restore Boileauganj road

A team of geologists and specialists has been called to restore the Boileauganj road in Shimla that has been badly damaged due to two consecutive landslides. These specialists will conduct a detailed study of the landslide site near the MLA crossing in order to chalk out an action plan to stabilise the strata of the landslide site.
These specialists will visit the site and formulate a strategy to safely remove the muck from the site. They will also come up with a plan to restore the road in order to make it functional again. As per the officials, study will be undertaken to identify the nature of the landslide. According to the PWD officials, the removal of muck from the spot could lead to another massive landslide.
This was decided in an emergency meeting that was called in view of another landslide that occurred on Tuesday night at Boileauganj road in which a rain shelter was also damaged. This is the second landslide that had occurred in the area within the period of 72 hours. The landslide had also put the surrounding area in danger.
On Monday, a massive landslide had occurred near the MLA crossing on the Boileauganj road due to which traffic movement was disrupted.
These roads are very important as these connect Himachal Pradesh University to the city. Every day, thousands of people, including students and office goers, commute through this road in order to go to their destinations. Not only this, the road also connects various parts like Summerhill, Totu, Boileauganj, Majiath and Jutogh from various hospitals, including Indira Gandhi Medical College as well as the Deendayal Upadhyay Zonal Hospital.
