Mandi, July 20
Unauthorised use of government-owned galvanised iron (GI) pipes was found during an investigation, done by the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (SV&ACB), in Mandi district yesterday. Sanjeev Kumar, a native of Kalswai village, was accused of using GI pipes, belonging to the state government, for various construction purposes at his residence.
During the investigation, led by SI Duni Chand, it was found that Sanjeev Kumar had utilised these pipes extensively without presenting any bills or permissions, validating their use. A search was conducted at Sanjeev Kumar’s house, revealing multiple GI pipes incorporated into railing, stairways and roof protection structures.
As many as 31 GI pipes, both large and small, were seized by the police during the search operation. Following these developments, an FIR was filed under Section 303 (2) of the BNS. Priyank Gupta, SV&ACB DSP, confirmed the report and said further investigation was underway in the case.
This incident has highlighted concerns over the misuse of government property.
