Uttarakhand-based NGO Hans Foundation, in collaboration with Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI), Palampur, on Monday organised a daylong training workshop on fodder management in Jawalamukhi, Kangra district.

The workshop was organised with an objective to assist and sensitise farmers of the area to adopt sustainable practices in fodder production, conservation and livestock nutrition.

The foundation organised the workshop under its ambitious ‘Prevention and Mitigation of Forest Fires’ project.

As many as 80 farmers participated in the workshop, and were trained to increase agriculture productivity and promote environmental sustainability. The session was led by Dr Sudesh Radotra and Dr Surinder Paul, scientists from IGFRI, Palampur, who brought their expertise to address region-specific challenges in fodder management.

They introduced farmers various green fodder varieties conducive for growing in Kangra region. They also shared seasonal fodder management techniques and demonstrated methods for silage and hay preparation.
