Fisheries Dept invites applications in Chamba
Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal on Tuesday said the state government had initiated the ‘Mukhyamantri Carp Fish Farming Scheme’ to create better self-employment opportunities for people. Applications for constructing fish ponds under this scheme were now being approved in Chamba district.
He highlighted that there was considerable potential for carp fish farming in the warm regions of Chamba, especially in areas like Bhattiyat, Chamba and lower Banikhet. Young people, in particular, could benefit from this scheme to strengthen their financial stability, he added.
Repaswal added that under the scheme, the state government was providing 80 per cent subsidy. He encouraged district residents interested in adopting fish farming as a business.
The Assistant Director of Fisheries Department, Dr Jai Singh Bhardwaj, said approval was being granted for fish pond construction to eligible beneficiaries. Additionally, the Fisheries Department is supplying carp fish seeds and nutritious fish feed to support production.
Interested beneficiaries can apply on the prescribed forms, available both online and offline, he added. Preference will be given to unemployed youth and approvals will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, Bhardwaj said.
