Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the first digital library of Himachal Pradesh, having about 2,500 books and offering an offline access to NCERT and CBSE books for Class I to XII, was formally launched in Bilaspur today. The digital library is equipped with essential amenities and seating arrangement for 40 persons.

Sukhu said that college courses, competitive exams and various educational books would be available to the readers in this library. “The library offers free access to reading materials via touch screen devices, servers and social media platforms. The facility is equipped with RFID technology, enabling a smart management system that benefits users by streamlining library functions. To enhance user experience, each reader will be issued an ID card, which must be scanned for library entry,” he added.

The district library comprises a large reading hall, e-library, computer tablets, furniture and other necessary facilities for students. The library is monitored through a CCTV camera surveillance network.

Sukhu interacted with students at the digital library. He reiterated his government’s commitment towards integrating digital technology and enhancing civic amenities for them. Students said that these improvements had greatly enriched their learning experience, making study time more enjoyable and productive

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a new building for the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau constructed at a cost of Rs 1.67 crore. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, HPTDC Chairman RS Bali, former minister Ram Lal Thakur and former MLAs Bumber Thakur and Tilak Raj were also present.
