Firing drill conducted to enhance operational readiness of forces
In an effort to enhance the operational readiness of law enforcement agencies, the Lahaul and Spiti district conducted its annual firing drill at the Bat Range in Jispa on Saturday. The event, which marked the culmination of a three-day training programme, was overseen by Lahaul and Spiti SP Mayank Chaudhary, who also participated in the firing exercise.
The firing drill was conducted under the supervision of DSP, Keylong, Raj Kumar. The aim of this comprehensive training initiative was to improve the shooting capabilities and immediate response skills of police personnel. The drill emphasised the importance of mastering the accurate and efficient use of firearms in real-life scenarios.
This year’s training included both shooting and tear gas utilisation and addressing contemporary challenges faced by law enforcement. Participants engaged with various types of weapons, focusing on precision targeting and decision-making under pressure. The inclusion of tear gas training was particularly noteworthy as it equipped officers with strategies for crowd control and managing violent protests, emphasising the need for rapid and safe responses in emergencies.
According to SP Mayank Chaudhary, the drill served not only as a practical training exercise but also as a platform for building confidence among the officers.
