Explore solar power potential of Kupvi: CM
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today instructed officials concerned to explore the possibility of establishing solar power plants on vacant hills in various gram panchayats of Kupvi subdivision in Shimla district.
During a visit to Tikkar village as part of the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ programme, the Chief Minister held detailed discussion with the officials about the development needs of the area. “The establishment of solar power plants in the area can prove to be a significant step towards promoting sustainable energy and creating employment for local people,” he added.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister took a walk with the village children and discussed with them about their studies and interest in sports. He also inquired about the available resources in local schools. He said that the state government would make all efforts to provide the best educational facilities in rural areas.
Sukhu interacted with elderly villagers and held discussions with them regarding the teaching methods of their time and the current educational scenario. The villagers thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the support price of cow milk from Rs 32 to Rs 45 a litre and of buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs 55 a litre. They also welcomed the decision of the government to purchase locally produced maize at Rs 30 per kilogram and wheat at Rs 40 per kilogram, which would directly benefit rural farmers and encourage their produce.
The Chief Minister assured senior citizens that the government was committed to strengthening the rural economy through various schemes and initiatives and would introduce new initiatives for the betterment and development of the rural population. Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil accompanied the Chief Minister.
