Expedite execution of tourism projects: Himachal CM

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today directed the officials of the Department of Tourism to expedite the execution of key infrastructure projects to works for the benefit of the people of the state. While presiding over a meeting of the department here today, the Chief Minister stressed on the need to complete the tourism projects, including heliports and hotels, in a time-bound manner.
“All heliports must be constructed in accordance with the guidelines set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA),” he said.
The CM directed the tourism department to explore the possibility of establishing a large convention centre, having accommodation for at least 5,000 people, in Palampur.
He also reviewed the ongoing expansion work at the Kangra Airport. “Tourism is a vital sector for strengthening the economy of the state as it provides livelihoods to thousands of families directly and indirectly,” he said.
