Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur today said that most of the exit polls in Haryana had forecast the victory of the Congress in the Assembly elections but the results were to the contrary.

Thakur, while interacting with mediapersons at the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Training Centre in Mandi, said that the BJP was going to form government in Haryana with a big majority for the third consecutive time. He added, “We had seen the same situation in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh as well. There, too, the election results were contrary to the exit poll forecasts. The BJP has also performed well in Jammu and Kashmir.”

He said, “I congratulate the people of Haryana for giving a good mandate through their votes after seeing the condition of the Congress government in Himachal. The public has understood that only Narendra Modi’s guarantee will work in the country.”

The former Chief Minister said that more than 10 lakh new members had been enrolled during the ongoing membership campaign and the party would soon achieve the target of 16 lakh new members in Himachal.

On the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, he said the country was going to be rebuilt with the skills of its beneficiaries.

He said, “The Central Government has brought 18 types of traditional artisans and craftsmen under the scheme. After training under this scheme, Vishwakarma brothers and sisters will be provided a loan of up to Rs 23 lakh without guarantee. Along with this, they will also be provided a toolkit of up to Rs 15,000, skill training and a stipend of up to Rs 3,000.” He appealed to carpenters, masons and handicraft artisans undergoing training at the centre to take the advantage of central schemes.
