Shimla, January 12

The Cabinet today gave nod to restructuring of the State Taxes and Excise Department by creating two separate wings of excise and Goods and Sales Tax (GST) and allied taxes to streamline the functioning of the department.

It also approved the upgrade of 50-bed Civil Hospital at Sujanpur in Hamirpur district to a 100-bed facility along with the creation and filling of 35 posts of different categories.

The Cabinet gave approval to extending the third phase of the HP Sadbhawana Legacy Cases Resolution Scheme, 2023, from January 1 to March 31, 2024, to settle the pending assessment cases and arrears, which were under litigation or were yet to be assessed under the law, subsumed under the GST.
