Kinnaur, July 8

A meeting of the district-level committee, constituted under the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme, was held today at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Dr Amit Kumar Sharma.

On this occasion, the DC stated that this scheme was highly beneficial to the youth and the general public for self-employment. He instructed the officials present to identify the eligible individuals to achieve the target.

Sharma directed the officials present to complete the formalities of the pending cases promptly to ensure the scheme benefited as many people as possible in the district. He urged the eligible individuals to apply for loans under the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme at their nearest bank branches to start businesses such as tent houses, sound systems, flour mills, pick-up vehicles, restaurants, cafes etc, for which the government provided low interest rates and subsidy.

Sharma said under the scheme, priority was given to the women of the tribal district of Kinnaur, providing a 35 per cent subsidy on loans to start their businesses. He called upon the district’s women to come forward and start their businesses. He urged the district youths to take advantage of this scheme to start their businesses, thereby creating self-employment and employment opportunities for others.

At the meeting, the proposed projects of 20 applicants from Kinnaur district were presented for approval, and all the projects were approved by the committee. The approved projects included small freight vehicles, DJ and tent houses, banquet halls, hotels and restaurants and retail shops.

General Manager of the District Industries Centre Garu Lal Negi conducted the proceedings of the meeting and informed the attendees about the various schemes being run by the department.

Present on the occasion were Lead Punjab National Bank Manager Rohit Sangwan, along with other officials and employees of the Industries Department.
