Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sumit Khimta has urged UCO Rural Self Employment Training Institute (UCO RSETI) to ensure timely dissemination of information about training camps to eligible youth. He highlighted that the institute played a pivotal role in promoting self-employment and is doing commendable work in the domain.
Speaking at the quarterly meeting of the local advisory committee of UCO RSETI, held in the conference hall of the DC office, Khimta emphasised the importance of utilising free training programmes offered by the institute across various trades.
He revealed that by September, UCO RSETI had successfully conducted 12 training camps, benefitting 380 young men and women. The DC urged banks to provide easy and generous loans to these trained individuals to help them establish their ventures. He also called upon all departmental officials to extend their cooperation in the endeavour.
Khimta directed departments such as the DRDA, horticulture, and agriculture to coordinate with UCO RSETI and provide trainees with comprehensive information about self-employment schemes during trainings.
The meeting was conducted by UCO RSETI Director Amita Sharma, who presented the institute’s quarterly progress report. She shared that under the institute’s training programmes, 453 individuals had been trained across 15 trades, including fast food stall entrepreneurship, dairy farming, beauty parlours, jute bag production, mushroom cultivation, tailoring, banking correspondence, and beekeeping.
The DC lauded UCO RSETI’’s efforts in empowering youth and emphasised the need for continuous collaboration between the institute and various departments to ensure the success of self-employment initiatives.
