Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa has instructed the nodal officers of various departments, including sub-divisional magistrates, tehsildars and naib tehsildars, to remain in the field so that there is no shortage of relief and rehabilitation material at any level due to the continuous rain in Kangra district.

Bairwa reviewed the damage caused by rains in the Disaster Management Control Room at the district headquarters on Saturday and gave necessary guidelines for relief and rehabilitation work. He said no laxity should be shown in disaster management works at any level and officials of all departments should remain alert for the works related to monsoons in their respective areas.

He said 166 schemes of the IPH had been affected, out of which 28 had been restored and repair work was going on for others. He appealed to locals and tourists not to go near the banks of rivers, rivulets etc and not to travel unnecessarily in view of the heavy rains.
