Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar has asked the directors of higher and elementary education to figure out ways to ensure there’s effective teaching in the schools for 220 days of the year. The directions came in view of the fact that effective teaching do not start immediately when the schools reopen in April.

“When the schools reopen in April, teachers of the board classes are busy checking the papers or with admission duties. As a result, effective teaching does not start for about 15-20 days. So, the Secretary has issued directions to figure out how proper teaching can start from Day 1,” said an official from the Education Department.

The Secretary has further asked the directors of higher and elementary education to fix an appropriate time for the training of teachers and also the right time for having declaring monsoon vacations.
