Nahan, August 27

State BJP president Rajeev Bindal today participated as the chief guest at the training session of the party’s membership campaign for the Nahan mandal. Addressing the gathering, Bindal said the party’s membership drive was being celebrated as a grand festival across the state and country.

He said the party was moving forward with a goal to enrol 200 members at every booth throughout the state, with a commitment to bringing the total membership in the state to 16 lakhs. Bindal highlighted that there were 121 booths in the Nahan mandal, and according to the plan, party’s aim was to enrol more than 24,200 members in Nahan.

He also announced that the BJP’s nationwide membership campaign was set to begin on September 1, with the primary objective of adding over 100 million new members to the party. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president JP Nadda, the party had reached every household. Between 2014 and 2019, approximately 180 million people had joined the saffron party. Although the campaign was paused due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it will resume on September 1 across the nation while in Himachal Pradesh, it is scheduled to begin on September 2.

Bindal outlined the four avenues through which individuals can join the party — missed call, QR code, the NaMo app, and the BJP’s official website. He described this membership drive as inclusive and all-encompassing, highlighting that it was the party’s democratic process that set it apart from nearly 1,500 other political parties in the country.

During his address, Bindal also took the opportunity to criticise the Congress party, accusing it of halting development in the state. He said despite making grand promises before coming to power, the Congress government had failed to deliver on its commitments.

He said the government had not provided the promised Rs 1,500 to women, sufficient employment opportunities to the youth and rights to the farmers. He said it had also not relieved public from the burden of inflation.

The current government’s decisions were consistently anti-people, with no relief being provided in the prices of transportation, electricity, cement, or ration, thus leading to increased burdens on the residents of the state, the state party chief said.
